I am looking at a vw passatt bluemotion 1.6 tdi 2011 from a car dealer. It is a uk reg that they have brought in. He says it's ex fleet and the price is ok considering my trade in. Would anybody have any concerns buying a ex uk fleet car? if so what am I to be vary of. Much appreciated.

What is the mileage on the car?

13000 miles. I priced one closer to home, it to was ex fleet and the dealer wanted €1500 more plus my own.i can post a link later but it's from a car dealers and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post link from them.

It's probably ex-hire drive as opposed to ex-fleet so. Could have been owned previously by Hertz etc.

When I was checking out my motor I got my hands on the number of the previous "driver" through them leaving the details in the glove box... Service sheets etc....

I called him and got the low down. Quite obliging lad really.

Is this an option or is the vehicle still in the UK ?

Possibly an ex staff car for one of the fleet companies as well. Have a friend who works for Leaseplan and they only keep cars for 6 months, think its similar for our partners in the UK too.

Yeah I suppose that could be the case alright. Still, much higher chance of it being ex-hire drive.

If it really is ex-fleet I wouldnt have a problem buying it.

Very underpowered though, even an old shape 2.0tdi would be a far nicer car overall.

The car is now in Ireland, I cant view it until friday week due to work, i ve spoke to the dealer and he just says its ex fleet and from UK, its actually not bad, i am concerned it been underpowered, however it cant be as bad as my ford focus 1.4 petol.

    It sure can...
I picked up an 08 passat common rail 2l tdi for 10, looks and feels new. Would be a better bet than a 11 1.6tdi imho.

when i drive it ill know, but the focus is slow, i drove a s40 and felt that to was a little bit underpowerd

I think people are making too much of a big deal about the 1.6TDi Passat being slow. It's not that slow.

Besides, if you want something thats quick, any form of a TDi isnt the way forward.

Im not that botherd on speed, my drive to work is on ok roads, but its full of tractors and there are only a few points to overtake, ive been caught trying to overtake in the focus and have had to drop into third and it still didnt move. Once i can overtake at ease then i am happy

The 140 tdi is no slouch though. I think its to do with its torque rather than Bhp. A bit tractor like imho compared to petrol but the economy makes up for that end of things.
