Where does it say it's an import? The non standard wheels would put me off more personally. Where are the original wheels? Probably knackered. Other than that it looks clean ish but photos can be deceiving.

I think the point the OP is trying to make is that Irish registered cars within his price range are poorly equipped.

Lot of decent money GTI's out there unfortunately most have too many doors, cloth seats, halogen headlights,17's and crap radios. If you have your heart set on a decent one then either be patient or just bite the bullet and import.

I am also looking for a gti and the biggest problem for me is finding decent 3 door. Am I the only person that prefers tartan seats? :o

Might be worth searching the forum for opinions on the garage in question

Am I the only one that would have to have the tartan interior in a Golf V?

My 06 GTI meets all the criteria... DSG, Leather, Xenon's.. etc .. but only issue I ain't selling till I get about 12 years out of :p

Great car, cannot recommend it enough. Pleasure to drive everyday.

Best of both worlds in the edition 30, leather and tartan :)

Nah my heart is set on leather seats tbh and DSG and as the first poster said standard wheels, colour pref is black gun metal grey or white but never red :(

Upper limit of how much i can spend is a couple hundred euros over 9k, i would prefer a 3 door as i rarely have more than 1-2 in the car, was looking at Autotrader UK too and there doesn't seem to be a huge saving in importing as most of the decent 06's with the 3 things i wanted that arent red/high milage are 6000 sterling so 7200 euros + the 2300 or so vrt which is my upper upper limit before you factor in ferry fares/expenses.

Maybe im searching wrong i dunno :(

Thats a really nice example and looks like it's 100km major service had been done, i would deffo check that out and buy if it had it's oil changed properly and it had it's 2nd DSG fluid change, as 1st major service on MKV GTI's is expensive (if anyone knows exactly how much and can let me know i would greatly appreciate it)

EDIT: Navigating DoneDeal is such a PITA and i hate how unprofessional it looks at times

Did you have a look on other forums like vagdrivers.net for example?

There maybe some for sale on this and most of the owners who are selling are enthusiasts so the cars will be well looked after.......

Thanks for the tips im not buying for 10-11 weeks or so im just trying to get a solid system together for searching whats on offer every few days until then to keep me motivated to throw abit extra into the credit union and let me know whats out there, also will chekc out the enthusiasts forums too as it will help me know what to look out for and what servicing needs done like the 100k service DSG services and the 15,000km oil changes.

Was very laid back with buying 1st car and i want to be niggly when buying this one and get exactly what im after inside my budget.

I wouldn't say I prefer them, but they are lovely in person, but look shocking in photo's. I was considering a MKV GTi when I bought my Civic, test drove a few, and they are a lovely car. Lether or tartan seats are both really nice in my opinion.

I must be the only person who likes the 5 door version :o If I needed a 5 door car, I would more than likely buy the Golf!
