First World problems

I posted in the "Post a pic of your car" thread the other day, I just got a new car and I've got a First world problem...

My sunglasses don't fit in the sunglasses holder:eek:

Apart from that it fairly rocks, never had a proper brand new car before so all is good.

Anyone got any similar first world problems they'd like to share?

My wife's sunglasses also don't fit.

I suggested not having those oversized "gaga-esque" sunglasses, as mine fit fine.

As you said... first world problems :D

Mine was a functioning AUX port on my CMax's radio, but now wire/input socket with it.
Had to buy it an fit it myself, I'm telling you, them where tough times, not having an AUX port for my mp3 player!
Certainly not a problem that features high on the agenda in Chad, Nairobi or Namibia, I'm sure!

I hate that about a car; dummy buttons on the dash are only there to tease you with the features you could have had

Thankfully my current car has buttons everywhere :pac:

My cup holders in the Focus don't hold cups when the car is moving. The chassis must be rotten at this stage with all the coke I spilled:mad:

My car did actually have it in as its a jap import but the previous owner whipped it out. Wonder how much it would cost to get it put back in. Oi Nissan doctor i have a project for you!

    I hear you!
One of my previous Fords had the two cupholders right beside, in fact they where even partially merged. This means that only on will hold a beverage at a time, it it physically impossible to wedge two drinks in there.
The designer must have come up with that one on a Monday morning.

I hate having to wait for the leather seats to heat up on a cold morning. It's such an inconvenience.

To mute and un-mute in the event of a phone call;)

Information display supports split screen functionality, however won't let me have radio stations listed on one side and sat nav map on the other at the same time.

Sometimes I wonder if there's any point to getting out of bed in the mornings... :(

Every time I go for a drive the car uses petrol and then I have to replace it.

    MK1 Octavia's cup holder also sucks :(

Worst is the ashtray cover though with randomly hops up when you are driving over a bump and flings ashes everywhere :p

I have no aircon in my mx5 :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 817 ✭✭✭Mr Magners

I just need to add that my car also doesn't have lumbar support. I'm going to bed now and I might just never get up again.

Why would I bother when I don't have something to support my lumbars!

I have no aircon in my mx5 :(

Same as hers maybe? 00 MkII 1.6.
No aircon (maybe not needed on convertible), no sat nav, no ABS, wind-up windows, exercise hood, let's just list the toys it does have, uuuhm, lemme see, ah got one, power steering. Yeah, that'll be it then, no wait, the aerial for the radio goes up and down automatically, yep, that's your lot.
But it's the 1.6, 16 valve DOHC, electronic ignition, fuel injection and RWD in a car that weighs nothing because it has no 21st century bloat to weigh it down.
The new ones have all that frippery, them must be like a tub of lard to drive.
Would love to try the popup headlamp model once.
But yeah, if toys are your thing, an old MX5 will be a disappointing place to be.;)

My Astra has a proper speed for normal driving wiper mode that it'll only let me select when I'm doing over 100km/h.

    And it has NO cupholder.

May as well send it to a crusher now...

I was taking a piss m8. One thing I newer understood is aircons in convertibles! If its good weather? Take your roof down ya muppet!!! :D

My one is ml2, so it is surprisingly comfortable. In fact it's used as daily car for last 3 years. Mk1 is class, really greater simple drivers car, mk2 is a bit fatter and mate more comfortable, but it's still down to earth in simplicity. The newest ones lost their touch. :(

    Wasn't being entirely serious either!;)
A car such as the MX5 is defined by it's simplicity, it makes it what it is.
To buy one that has aircon, electric hood, electric windows, ABS, traction control, sat nav, 17000 watt 25 speaker stereo with bluetooth and i-drive (Well, it won't, but you know what I mean) and a million other gadgets will completely destroy the car, defeat it's purpose and just turn it into a fashion accessory.
As for the aircon in convertibles, if you live somewhere proper hot, i.e. 35 degrees and up, you can't have the roof down, the wind won't cool you down, it will be like being in a convection oven, hence the need for aircon.
It was invented for climates so hot, you need it as much as central heating here, you couldn't live without it.
Hence people saying "Oh, but I really need aircon" here, is nonsensical, you may really need it twice every 5 years, that's about it, other than that aircon only exists so that people can say "My car's got aircon, you know!"
Other than that, it's about as useful as the Pope's balls in Ireland.
