Hi, I am curious after watching a video on youtube about shanonwatch? As they monitor planes (possible rendition flights) they would radio or text message back plane ID's whereby someone near a computer could track the plane using its transponder?

I am a total newb and know nothing about Aviation but was curious as to how amateurs like this have access to track planes like this?

Those aircraft would not show up on flight radar or a home computer screen as they probably dont have mode s/ads-b tranponders, shannonwatch ''monitor'' planes and speculate, don't get me started on them,a waste of time.somebody is giving them the info though so they camp out and make a pointless, voiceless protest

Those guys are just feeding their fantasies that Shannon is veritable hub of rendition flights and that it's a vital stop for the US military and that their presence hanging over the fence in the middle of the night is a vital part of the struggle to end the imperialist aggression against those nice people, Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

It's hilarious really because they are universally ignored and irrelevant. But they love it when the local Gardai come up and ask them what they're up to because of course a bunch of people hanging out an airport fence in the middle of the night are in fact a security risk.

The fact is that you can download an app on any smartphone and 'monitor' rendition flights from the comfort of home.

    All rather pointless.

Yes I suppose we are one sided, but for a number of reasons

These guys have a bad reputation because of the "Stunts" they have pulled in the past which in turn has caused problems for the guys out there with a genuine interest in aircraft (Mainly the guys who post here)

If they believe that what they are doing is of benifit to anyone or a service to the public well then they are dillusional aswell as idiotic for tampering with an Aircraft

True, both then I don't expect to see any posts along the lines of "Oh cool, jet fighters inbound to SNN/DUB now!!" in a human rights/Occupy movement online forum!!
