Outer cable joiner

I recently bought a road frame, currently I don't have the funds to get all the components I need to build it up fully, primarily shifters and drivetrain.
So I'm planning to swap over the bars and shifters from my cross/commuter.
This is something I may need to do a number of times over the next few months as there are a few adventure races where I'll want to use the cross bike.
The problem is the fact that the front brake outer cable won't reache to the calipers on the road bike. Is it possible to get a connector to put in an extra piece of outer cable to save me having to remove bar tape etc.

You could buy some S&S cable splitters, I have these on my travel bike:

...but it's a bit of a drastic solution.

I have considered such a setup for swapping aerobars on to a road bike.

    These might do the business

I have "sealed" cable runs on my MTB so I fitted these at the same time for some post ride squirty action down the line. Haven't ridden in any mucky conditions yet so can't report on how good they are.

Comes in two types, 4mm or 5mm depending on the size of your cable outer.

Would the Nokon cable system be an option? You could add/remove segments as necessary. Seems to be out of stock in a lot a places so maybe it's discontinued. I saw it in a road bike a few weeks ago, seems to work fine.

Nokon cables as a money saving measure makes no sense!
