Core i5 laptop with a 1920x1080 (full hd) screen and integrated graphics (ie no graphics card using the core i5/HD3000 for the graphics)

Need resolution for a basic 2D financial package and don't want the heat/loss of battery/cost of a graphics card.

Sure it's possible, check out the Dell Latitude E6520, Core i5-2520M, Intel HD 3000 and 15.6" Ultrasharp FHD @ 1920x1080.

Oddly enough, looking around, that's the only one you'll get with no added GPU with an i5 and full hd screen.

Christ! Look at the price of it though!

OP better off getting one with an Nividia 520M GPU, hundreds cheaper and it'll only come on if needed, so no heat or wasted battery.

And at €1079 (Ex. VAT & Shipping) not exactly cheap. ;)

ya just get something with switchable graphics...nvidia optimus...that way in settings you can turn off the discrete GPU when ya need to..HD2000 will allow for 1960x1080 resolution

Sure, other FHD laptops are a lot cheaper, but yes, it IS possible to get a ridiculously overpriced business laptop with such specs. Whether or not such a purchase makes sense is a different story. :D

Wow that Dell comes to €1440 with 9 cell battery, FHD screen and backlit keyboard selected.

Latitude are nice but seems dear for what it is.

Just looking into the Sony on komplett now...

Anyone know if I just remove the GPU will it just work off the HD3000.

The AMD switching is reportedly poor.

Drastic I know but would be a perfect laptop then (for me anyway ;-))

Have you considered disabling that AMD in BIOS?
It would be great if you could Uninstall the driver in Windows.

    Just a thought

You can disable the Radeon in the device manger and you'll never hear from it again. ;)

I've got a dell xps 15...the 1080p screen is great...you can get a Sandybridge i5 model with 6GB ram and 500HDD for like €830 it had an Nvidia GT 520 GPU but with optimus you can just customize when it runs and use the on-board graphics then ..or you can just tun off the GPU altogether

Can't understand why I never thought of that, and I'm the one who fixes all my mates computers ;)

Anyway, I went for the Sony from Komplett as it has a backlit keyboard and the screen is supposed to be great.

Ill stick in a SSD when I get it and report back.

Thanks for the other suggestions but the Dell 15r is coming in at €1000 on their site and the other Sony is not as good an overall deal as komplett give the extra Sony battery as well.

Thanks for your time, pity its a bank holiday weekend ;-)
