Am hoping to be doing an arts degree next year in uni and really want to do a language, couldnt do french in the uni i'm going to as I didnt get a higher c3, so my choices realistically, as I want to teach eventually , are german and spanish.

If I was to choose purely on the language, I would pick spanish, but assumed till today that german would be the *much* better language if I had teaching in mind.

found this article by someone called David Barnell which gives a brief history of languages taught in secondary schools along with the decline in languages in general but the rise in popularity in the study of spanish. seems there was a government initiative to widen the choose of langauges to study in 2000.

Interesting stuff considering germany have all the money, are we just sticking up for one of our fellow 'pigs'?:pac:
