    In light of all the attention that Mario Ballotelli gets in relation to his private life, and the many opinions of people about him, it got me thinking why are some players exempt from this.

    Just off the top of my head, I remember there were many jokes about Ryan Giggs and his private relationship. Ribery was a big issue in the papers for his shennagians with an escort. But I have never heard the discussion of Lionel Messi's relationship with an underage girl. They dated when Messi was 18, and she, Macarena Lemos was 14.

    There is no doubting the guy is a genius on the field, but why is he exempt from any criticism off the field?

    Quite possible. But should that change the position we view it from our society. I don't think it would be too well looked upon if Danny Wellbeck showed up at the PFA awards with a 15 yr old under arm!
