Trading in car - questions

    Hi everyone,

I'm trading in my car at the weekend - it's the first time I or anyone in my family has ever traded in a car!!! (Usually sold private or scrapped - don't buy cars often :D).

Anyway - I wanted to check with you good folk on the process.

I know I'm to give the dealer the Reg. Cert and I understand we fill in an RF105 at the dealers. Then - should the dealer give me this to send off myself?

Anything else I need to be aware of?

    Thanks in advance!

You hand the dealer your old Reg Cert, sign the sellers section at the back, the dealer keeps it until the car is sold on.

You sign the new owners section of the Reg Cert of your new car (it should already be signed by the previous owner), the dealer if he has access can update the change of ownership online or post the Reg Cert off to the DOE in Shannon. They will issue you a new Reg Cert to you in about 2/3 weeks.

You don't sign the sellers section if filling out an rf105

If you still have it, dig out the spare key and take that along.
