    Hey Boardsies,

I need some advice...I live at the end of a row of terrece house in the city and we have bin collection every monday morning so naturally bins go out sunday night, now over the last couple of months i notice bins outside my house that are not mine, sometimes they are tagged and sometimes they are not but this is really annoying me as when they arnt the bin men just leave them which is fair enough as they are not suppose to.I have figured out it is my next door neighbour who i dont talk to whos is doing it as i have suspected him for a couple of months as he never has bins in front of his house and last night i went to put ours out and there was one in front of our house so i put it infront of his and then this morning before going to work it was put back in front of our house.
I dont know why he is doing this as he has to go further and more out of his way to put them in front of my house than right outside his so im asking you guys for advice on what i should and can do,can i report him or do any of you have any eperience on the matter before, all answers welcome please

    Cheers
    LT

Why is this a problem? Seems like an odd way of winding someone up, it doesn't sound like it's causing that much hassle (other than having a bin in front of your house)....

He is making it easier for the bin men to do their job. Bins are usually put in pairs for the trucks, to empty so that they do them in one go, other wise if a house on a bend that bin can be missed by the bin men so it makes sense to do that your neighbour is doing. Honestly why are you put out by this?

His bins would not be missed in front of his house trust me and its annoys me when they are not tagged and left by the bin men, leaving me to put them out next and have to pay for tags so he is effectivly dumping them on my property

And they are not wheelie bins,we have a bin bag collection so they are loose

OP forgive my ignorance, but has his carry on cost you money? Like having to pay extra when his bags aren't tagged?

Put them back in front of his house and set them on fire.

    Should solve it ; )

If I am reading this right you think your neighbour is leaving rubbish bags outside your house. Sometimes he tags them and the binmen take them, sometimes he doesnt tag them and the binen leave them behind and as they are outside your house you feel obliged to take them in to stop your house been littered by them, you then have to pay for tags to put on them the following week?
If this is the case contact your council and get the litter wardens details, they have the power to go through the bins trace the owner and fine them. You should consider setting up a cheap cctv unit at the front of your house too.

ok so not wheelie bins but untagged bags. Don't take them in, don't tag them.
Get the number for your local litter warden, which is attached to your local county council and report the bags. They will call out and investigate and issue fines.

Wheelie bins are not a big deal but it's not on to leave black bin bags outside the neighbours, especially if they are not tagged and are going to be left there

Had a similar issue OP with our neighbours and we just put them on his doorstep.

He reckons you're a soft touch, show him otherwise.

If you find untagged bin bags next time just leave them against his front door and it's his problem then

i did put them back in front of his house on sunday night after i found them there and when i went to work the next day the sneay prat had put them back in front of my house, its really winding me up and on the plus side if something is found in them bags that would be illeagle or otherwise its going to look like it was ours:mad:

Im really not sure what to do as if we call a litter warden and he checks the bags and cant find anything to identify him we have nothing to go on,im stuck between a rock and a hard place here:(

Ah OP, come on! Are you honestly telling me you can't figure out why he is doing this?

He's doing it because you are PAYING FOR HIS BINS like a mug! STOP paying for his bins and report him. Either stay up one night and film him on your phone or get CCTV in. You can't just be a walkover and then wonder why he is doing it.

It's not your problem to pay for his bins. If he keeps leaving them there, complain to the council and get them to go through his bins for evidence.

I don't get why you are taking the bins in and putting them out the next time???

Stop taking them in. If the bin men don't take them ring the litter warden/council whoever and report dumped rubbish on your road.

I agree that he keeps doing it because you keep getting rid of it for him.

theres a bin tag system, unless the OP actually sticks on the tag on the bin then there is no way he is payign for it.

OP if the bins are not collected does he leave them there?

Yeah thats true i did it once but im not doing it anymore,i rang the litter warden and the bin was taking but i cant keep ringing everyweek or there going to think im just not paying for tags and when i put them back in front of his house he has the cheek to put them back in front of mine,im going to record him doing it next week and then confront him in the act and see what he says as this is not on...ill let you guys know how it goes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,559 ✭✭✭Daisy M

Of course you can ring the litter warden every week, its their job and I am sure they will be eager to get to the bottom of who is causing the litter problem rather than having to call every week. Keep your tags as proof that you are paying for your litter and you wont have a problem.

You can keep ringing the Litter Warden every week, that's their job.

They won't think you're not paying for tags, sure you'd hardly rat yourself up if you weren't, anyway it's the Litter Wardens job to figure it out!

Record him doing it next week OP and don't let him away with it. The cheek of some people EH!

Why not knock on his door and ask him about it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,378 ✭✭✭✭jimmycrackcorm

Next time he leaves them outside your house with no tags, put them inside your property and then after the binman comes round put them back out. It's his rubbish and he might get the message.
