50's style wedding dress

I am hoping to have a 50's style wedding dress for the big day, although I have heard they can be hard to find. Ideally I would love to be able to try on a few different ones as I have little luck when I order clothes online.
Does anyone know of any bridal shops that have any? I already have an appointment with Dirty Fabulous although I hear there dresses are quite small sizes.

Has anyone gone down the dressmaker route?
I kinda have my heart set on this style now :)

    Thanks in advance :)

Peekaboo Designs are meant to be great, they're a 50's style dressmaker based on Liffey Street in Dublin. AFAIK their wedding dresses would cost around the €700 mark.

Other designers that do 50's style wedding dresses are Justin Alexander, Candy Anthony, Amy-Jo Tatum, Stephanie Allin and Vivien of Holloway.

50s style? I'm thinking shorter skirt mid shin that goes out in a big A shape, I can't imagine too many places in Ireland would buy them as your regular stock but you never know.

For a wedding dress like this a dress maker may be a good option but you really have to be careful and make sure the fabrics don't look cheap and they know how to actually get it spot on as I see a fair few dress maker dresses that look like they were made like they are a prototype if you know what I mean some of them if you catch my drift.

Sorry I couldnt help too much good luck in your hunt.

I realise that she's based in the UK but perhaps you could show the style to dressmaker.

They actually stock these in Retro, George's Street Arcade in Dublin if you want to see what they're like :) You can always buy online after.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Think I might hit Retro so I can try some dresses on while I wait to hear back from a couple of Bridal Shops :)

If anyone has any more suggestions I am all ears :)

I'd suggest having a look online for what style 50's dress you want to go with (tight pencil style, big skirt style etc) and maybe go to a dress maker?

+1 for vivian of holloway though, friend of mine got married in one of those dresses

    HI!
I've seen these dresses in loads of Bridal shops!
Most shops I went to had a least one ballet length dress and it was very 50s style in each shop. Ones that I remember being particularly nice were one in the Town Bride in Powerscourt Town House and one in the Bridal Outlet in Baldoyle.
Every bridal shop I went to had a 50s style dress but many were full lenght- if you really keen on shorter def try to the two above as I remember them as definitely having them.
    Good Luck!

Get the number of a few bridal shops, call and ask. I got a 50's dress in a regular bridal boutique. They had only 3 to choose from, but I got to make a lot of personal changes to it, leave out some layers, add netting, change colour, change length... The dressmaker route seems to be the cheapest though, wish I'd come across it before.

Irish Brides magazine always have a few advertised lately. Worth picking one up and having a look for an Irish designer doing them.

Meant to post this link - Candy Anthony are great. They have some lovely fun dresses in a variety of 50s styles. UK though, but they will take custom measurements if you get them done and send them.

Also OP, it's worth keeping an eye on the likes of Preloved, Adverts and Donedeal, people often sell vintage style dresses on there. For example I just saw this one on Adverts, great price if it's what you're looking for:

Just an update on my search so far:
Berketex Bridal in Jervis have no tea length dresses but I tried on one which could be shortened. Would work out expensive by the time alterations were factored in.
Dirty Fabulous has some lovely stuff but I'm a 16ish ;)
They had 2 dresses in their stores that fit. As they are vintage, they do not have the kind of corset structure I want (and need). All of their other dresses are for smaller sizes.
Moreland Bridal: They stock a full length version of a Justin Alexander dress. This dress is also available in tea length. I am in love with this dress but I'd love to try on the tea length version before I commit.
The White Rooms in Mullingar will be getting a visit shortly. They currently have 4 / 5 tea length dresses in stock. Judging by their website they are very pretty.
It seems very few bridal shops I have visited have any tea length dresses in stock.

I'm tall so this would be very short on me but I spotted it in BT's today:

Could be an option for someone of ave height
