I tend to pick the whichever one has the brightest packaging, the best use of the letter X,the biggest possible font and the one with the best sciency sounding words.
Oh and bonus points for the inclusion of an amino acid diagram :)

I was wondering the same..how much in the 'ON' stuff?

I ended up going with myprotein, ordered 'Impact whey delux' its a mix of concentrate, isolate and hydrolysed whey, and works out at around 15.50 euro a kg when bought in a 3kg bag.

I use ON Gold Standard stuff too.. a little more expensive but its worth it for me as i hate the taste of alot of the others ive tried.

Its got a good protein percentage per scoop.. 24g

As I was doing a price comparison of few proteins (mostly unflavoured, except ON), here is a table with price per kg of pure protein and multiplier

    brand|name|kg per box|% of protein|price (EUR)|price/kg of prot.|price comp
    bulkpowders|0.82|5|82%|45.14|11.01|1|
    myprotein|Impact Whey Protein|5|78%|53.29|13.59|1.23|
    bulkpowders|0.9|5|90%|67.79|15.06|1.37|
    bulkpowders|0.97|5|97%|90.39|18.64|1.69|
    myprotein|Impact Whey Isolate|4|89%|74.99|21.06|1.91|
    ON|Gold Standard|4.54|82%|110|29.68|2.7|
    bulkpowders|Hemp|5|47%|73.44|31.25|2.84|
    myprotein|Hydrolysed|2.5|80%|63.29|31.65|2.87|
    myprotein|Hemp|2.5|47%|54.89|47.05|4.27|
    ON|Platinum Hydrowhey|1.588|77%|79.95|65.45|5.94|

I use a brand called FitnessPro. It's cheap enouigh has about 25g of protein per scoop...tastes grand too!

It always seems to be on special offer on this site http://www.supplementwarehouse.com/viewitem.asp?idproduct=195532.

Use 2-1-1 recovery the odd time aswell...seems to do the job too!

I used to use Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion but the taste of it got fairly sickening after a while...it's expensive enough if you don't get it on special offer.

Great post Meijin just one point is that all the % figures are on dry matter so when you take them as-is it will drop by 4% on average. Plus if you add in flavours it will drop another little bit. A flavoured chocolate based on an 80% wpc could be 68-70% as-is in the tub.

Gold Standard for example ranges from 75% - 81.6% dependent on flavour with most being 77-79%

    Cheers :)

Yeah, myprotein provides as-is values, so I've used that... not sure how other 2 brands count it really, so there might be few % change - it's more for an overview of prices than exact values

I've used 24g/29.4g they list on the website. The more flavour, the less protein ;)

PS chicken breast is about 57 euro / kg of protein ;)

quality post meijin, thanks v.much! Do bulkpowders do a referral thing like myprotein do MP points? MP points are handy for bringing the price down a notch if people you know are making big orders and that.

I think you need to do a meat table.

    haha ;)

Meat prices vary too much, but from what I've seen there is usually, on average, about 26-28% protein in meat (I think that assumes raw), so just get your local price per kg and multiply it by 3.7 :) (100/27). It's still very rough estimation and will depend on water and fat content.

http://www.wolframalpha.com has a lot of nutritional info, just search for example for "100g of chicken breast" and you'll get a lot of details. If you click small "more" button on the protein table it will even give you full amino acids profile.
http://www.myfitnesspal.com gives less details and the sources seem to be quite random, but might be more convenient to use sometimes.

when you think about it that way....! ****!

Can be gotten alot cheaper though. Butchers if buying 30 breasts will give a good deal etc.

Your table is stupid and wrong.

You didn't include the free shakers you get with some of those in the price comparison.

Do you just pour liquid into the tub and eat some of it?!?

    Nice going....

And t-shirts. Don't forget the ON t-shirts :pac:

They're actually pretty nice. I wish I had one :(

It's only good value if you can get a XXXL t-shirt, thereby costing them more to make.

Ironically, last time I bought a tub I never got one, even though it clearly said I should.
