It's there again ffs. Always on Sundays they're here for about an hour. And it's during the week too.
What the hell are they doing waking everyone up with the thing for.
They're not out looking for anyone you can bet either. It's just too consistent.
Is there anything we can do to get this some attention or something?

    I'm not trolling smart arse!!

They're not doing their job. If it was just now and again they were up there it would be fine. But this has been going on for over a year now!!!

Theyre hardly joyriding, so they are doing their job! You've no idea what they are doing, and it could be life saving work!

You really think they are doing it just to piss people off? You have any idea how much fuel that thing uses just for for what you call the sake of it? They are making themselves known to certain people that maybe in a trouble making area. Those pilots have to paid too so you can be guaranteed it was authorized to be up there for a reason as it costs alot to send it up each time.

Do you think they're just getting a break from the office?

"My head's melted, I think I'll take the chopper for a spin"?

TBH, that thread was just as stupid as this one.

They are there regularly because there are scumbags regularly being well scumbags. I've been up in my father's here in Tallaght the last 4 weekends and each weekend there's at least 1 car being driven to **** around the estate and a gang of lads roaming around drinking and starting a fire or just hanging about on street corners half the night. The helicopter was also out yesterday morning at about 10 am too.

It costs far too much to have them out for a laugh. They are there for a reason.

Why do people keep flaming me over this?
Sorry, when you told me to build a bride I though you were implying I was a troll, which is probably the most offensive thing you can say to someone on the internet.

They're at it constantly. There's no way they need to be up there every week when people are trying to sleep for work the next day.

I'm willing to bet this is some ridiculous protocol that has been put i place.

Go over to the emergency services forum and see how you get flamed!!!

Would you be reacting the same way to the Gardaì were they chasing a scrote in a stolen car past your house every few weeks with the siren on???

It's the exact same thing except that when a helicopter stops making noise, it crashes!!!!

You're not listening to me though.

It's up there regularly at the same times. It practically shakes the house. Sometimes they've even shined lights through the neighbors and my back garden. I'm willing to bet they're taking the piss up there.

In fairness to the OP, this is obviously quite a nuisance to him as he has started two threads about it. I'd say Teddy that you would have a better chance at finding out what's going on if you went down to your local Garda station and voiced your complaints. But chances are, your local Garda station won't have a clue what it's about either (as I doubt the AGS helicopter operates out of your local station) or they will tell you that it's classified information. You could register a noise complaint but I can't see that having much luck. Have you tried ear plugs? Even the bog-standard cheap ones can make a difference. However, if the chopper is that low/loud that it is shaking your house/apartment then ear plugs will be useless, and you could have a good case for complaint in that scenario.

They are more than likely training.Pilots have to log a certain number of hours every week in the day and night to keep their skills up to scratch.Even if there are no crimes they still have to fly.

Its a public discussion forum.Doesn't work that way.

Seriously? You came on the internet looking for people only to agree with you?????

What ARE you actually hoping to gain with this thread? You've been given reasonable explanations as to why it could be up there but you seen disinterested and seem convinced that the Gardai only launch a €7,000,000 helicopter with the sole intention of pīssing you off!!!!!

I'm only responding to positive replies now.

The problem with going to the station is they won't tell me exactly what's going on.
Who could I write to or email perhaps letting them know what's happening.

Ring the Gardai and tell them that their own helicopter is disturbing the peace.I'm sure they'll look after you

I can certainly agree with OP that sometimes AGS copter actions seems suspicious. I'm glad to hear someone like Chavways explaining that it might be just training.
But from other point of view - there is a rule that more cops presence in your area makes property prices go down - not much fan to have them training over your head anyways.

No point asking at the local station because A) they almost certainly won't know what is going on and B ) if they do know , they will not discuss an operational issue.

Perhaps a letter to the Irish Aviation Authority ?

My own view is that with the helicopter over your house at least your car is safe !

Having read some of this thread, I'd be blaming the scumbags rather than the Gardai who are trying to protect innocent people - I mightn't like the idea of a helicopter over me at regular intervals, but if it's necessary, then it's necessary and that is that - likewise, I don't particularly like planes flying over me, but then again, they have to go somewhere - I've flown a few times myself after all!

To be fair to the OP, I was in college with a mature student who was being trained in the Garda helicopter unit (or whatever the hell they're called!). He was brought up for genuine calls, but was also brought up on training sessions, and, after I stupidly gave him my address, he trolled my apartment block on and off for about three months!

    We're not friends anymore...
