Hi, I have recently excepted myself that I am lesbian and would like to get to know other gay women in Dublin. I'm not out to my friends or family and not to comfortable about going to gay bars alone. Are there other ways of getting to meet other gay women in Dublin in a less intimidating environment.

    Hey Sheppie,

What you want is Running Amach- it's a social group that organises lots of different types of social events from nightclubs to coffee evenings to book clubs to soccer games.

Lots of really sound women, I've been to a couple of their events and I'd recommend them. They tend to the slightly older crowd (mid-twenties up), but there's a good mix.

    :)

you should also try the gay dating websites - they are not neccessarily for dating. (gaydargirls.com ??) They are pretty useful for chatting to other girls/guys and then perhaps making friends and meeting up, before being thrown into a big group as above (which I feel could be just as intimidating). try signing up to queerid aswell... its an Irish gay forums site, similar to this, but ...gay!!!

(im actually male, so not entirely sure about gaydargirls, but there could be similar...defo try queerID though)
