    Hey guys,

Does anyone know what's going on with the police cordon on the northbound lane of the dual carriageway (alongside Pavillions) tonight?

    Very odd!

I saw this too - around the same time.

When I was going into town around 8:30 on the bus, there was an accident involving a bike or motor bike and someone lying on the road. We saw a Garda car already there and an ambulance just pulling up. It may have been to do with that but 4 hours later is a long time for a stretch to be closed.

If there is a fatality or serious injury they close the relevant road to preserve the area until the technical squad do all their evidence gathering. Sometimes even motorways are closed for several hours in similar circumstances.
