    Hello all

I was wondering if you are able to do freelance work and also receive dole. I mean freelance is really sporadic and not supportive for life. Do you have to declare it, if it was solid work i wouldn't bother with dole. But what are the implications. I would be getting payed by paypal and online webmoney transfer and perhaps cash in hand. I not trying to do anything bad, I just dont want to fall into trouble based on something i don't know.

    What do?

If you are on benefit you must sign off any day you have work even if it it only 1 hour you will loose a whole days SW payment.

If you are on allowance you will need to provide details of the work you are doing and you would be assessed with means on a self employed basis.

The other option is Back to Work. This scheme is for new business set up. If you have not set up already you can go to your local Job Facilitator and provide a business plan. If you qualify you then can work away at your business and receive full payment for the first 12 months and the 75% for the second 12 months. You won't need to sign on monthly and you can be paid into the bank.
