Some FemSoc members might be there (the Law HoD sent an email inviting all our members). Don't know if I will though. I've a class at 2 that I can't miss as it's compulsory >.<

Sounds like it will be a great event though!

It's not a femsoc event but as YTH has said there may be some members there. I'm sure that you can get an idea from the agenda but I imagine it will be more about Law and how a woman's role in Law has developed as more women have entered the area as opposed to the days when law was only for men. Gender quotas may well be discussed (though I'd rather they weren't tbh but that's my own opinion!) as well as other topics. I'm aware that some may see this as sexist (as the accusations have already been thrown out) but thats only if you decide to look at it that way, I see it more as a legal/historical/sociological discussion. Lets be honest, Men in law is pretty straightforward, they've always been there, women had a bit more of a fight to get to where we all are today.

Sanity_Savior, we will have words over you thanking this post :P

you can take my absence from the event as a form of protest. any event which has woman and [insert some perceived unrepresented area in society] in the title, i tend to avoid. discussions such as these have taken on a form of there own and instead of once campaigning for equal treatment they now campaign for supremacy of the known universe.
Lets be honest, Men in law is pretty straightforward, they've always been there, women had a bit more of a fight to get to where we all are today.

thats just absolute nonsence. the law in its present form was brought about by men who fought and died for its establishment. women have rarely played a role in that respect.
I'm aware that some may see this as sexist (as the accusations have already been thrown out) but thats only if you decide to look at it that way,

it sexist plain and simple whatever way you look at it.

Seeing as you have misconstrued and ignored every point I have made let's leave it here. You have your opinion and no one is forcing you to go

I'm sure that you can get an idea from the agenda

    *Checks Agenda*

Its just a list of names, there's 2 panels, with no discussion topics.
So no, I can't figure out what the heck its going to be about.

I can only guess it'll be just like those "Women in Engineering" Events, where they highlight the fact that there are women in engineering and are somehow meant to encourage more women to enter engineering, but don't address the reason why there aren't more women in engineering.

Looking at who the speakers are may help. Partners, judges, ministers, etc. All will have their areas to speak about and how their roles as women have affected law firms/the courts/politics
