I get this message when I try and buy something from Amazon UK and USA. "We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination" does anyone why this is? The destination is Ireland!!

    Thanks.

If it's Photo/Electronics, AFAIK it's something to do with the recycling tax we pay here on electronic goods.

Is it actually Amazon or a third party selling through Amazon?
I think Amazon are pretty OK with shipping internationally, but many third party companies are not.

Pick your seller carefully, and you should have no problems.

I tried making an order for this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO%C2%AE-5508-Deluxe-Brick-Box/dp/B002Q4U72E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333198534&sr=8-1 and there was no problem with free delivery to an Irish address.

Its probably the 3rd party thing, but also some manufacturers try to control the selling of their goods in different market regions, there may be no legal issue but big sellers like amazon would comply with their wishes.

e.g. you might not get an ipod sent here as apple would get more profit by forcing you to use a EU agent who buys from them at a higher price. Levis stopped tesco trying to bring in jeans from the US before too.

Yep 3rd party Sellers on Amazon have their own restrictions so it's likely that. However Amazon are a happy to send a wider range of items to Ireland, though are still restricted by law or by item size (large things like white goods/fridges etc).

You can see exactly what can't be sent here:
