Car Insurance on Monthly DD

Got a good quote from 123 there on TPFT. Thing is I only want to put this car on the road for the summer and only need around 6 months cover. When I called them I was told they wouldnt offer a half year policy. In that case is it possible to just go on monthly installments and cancel later in the year, or is there any penalty for that?

You will have to pay about 25-35% upfront as a deposit, and then start monthly payments. You can cancel your policy, but need to check if it is worth. You won't get full refund for unused months, only some percentage of premium. Check their website for conditions.

    OK, checked for you:

All cancellation instructions must be submitted to 123.ie in writing. If the insurance certificate and disc have been issued, these must also be returned before your policy can be cancelled. If you cancel your motor insurance policy during the first year of insurance, the Insurer's short period rates will apply for the time the policy has been in force. The short period rates are as follows:
    1st month 80%
    2nd month 70%
    3rd month 60%
    4th month 50%
    5th month 40%
    6th month 30%
    7th month 20%
    8th month 10%
9th month or later no refund

Ask them, they're the only ones who can give you a proper answer.

Cheers for that. Looks like it'd make more sense to pay for the 12 months. Its 255e which is 100 down on a quote I got for the same car last year. So I cant complain I suppose.
