    Hi all,

Just wondering what folk might think. I have a few small oil leaks I need to get fixed in the chariot. Thinking of flogging it. (Vaux Astra estate 05 1.7 TDI)

I need to get two things according to the mechanic:

Bottom Crank Shaft front oil seal

    Camshaft oil seal (front)

Apparently it will mean taking out the timing belt to get at it. The timing belt is pretty new.

I have no idea yet how much it is going to cost. I suppose I have to get it done at some stage. I am thinking about getting it fixed, then driving the car into the ground. It'll be a nightmare to try and sell it...

    Opinions?

I would recommend you have the oil pump checked for leaks also, they are more prone to leaks than the crankshaft seal.

The most important thing to consider in your cars is that both those seals are leaking into the timing belt area and oil on the timing belt seriously reduces its strength and life.

Cheers folks. Going to get it done anyways. Next thing to fix is the dodgy switches for the electric windows!!
Think I might just drive it then until it drives no more.............Would be hassle trying to trade it....
