Folks, thinking of heading to dubai with the missus next oct, was checking out ethiad and emirates from Dublin working out about 1300 between us, are these the only two that fly direct? and also if anybody can recommend some hotels in the main area. Thanks!

Does it have to be direct? I'd say you'd get some much better deals with a stop off somewhere. Try some of the price comparison websites

ya was hoping for direct as the stopovers are very long 6 to 8 hours in places

fwiw KLM are cheaper than Emirates but flying with them involvs a stopover in Schipol for about 4-5 hours.
There are worse places to be stuck and it gives you enough time to take a quick trip down town if you feel like leaving the airport.

I usually use momondo as a starting point for searching, they've thrown up an option through tripsta, 486 pp, connection time 2 hours on the way over, 5 hours on the way back. The 5 hours is unusually long, maybe I've always been lucky with my short connections!
