Your instructor should be able to give you one when you start the EDT lessons. No need to send away for one.

    Hi,

Your instructor will either give or sell you one.

After you have started your lessons you can see a record of your EDT training as returned to the RSA by your instructor..

    Instructions:-

To Login they simply populate the four fields (see screen shot below (or link https://ccwdriver.rsa.ie/driver/driverlogin.aspx ) and they can then see a record of their EDT training as returned to the RSA.

Learners can access the portal via our website by clicking on MY EDT button on the following page from our website http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/Driver-Training/Car-Training-EDT/My-EDT/

From there Learners will be able to view or print off a record of their training. The print off facility will be particularly useful to ADI’s seeking to establish what training had been completed where a learner comes to you from another ADI and had misplaced their logbook.

My instructor gave me one, well I had to pay 15 euro deposit, he said he will pay it back when I finish lessons. Reason for that was he said that instructors are given fixed amount of logbooks, and if person starts and stops learning, they just loose logbook.

Jesus Christ, your instructor is basically holding a gun to your head for you to stay with them or lose your €15. If they had any confidence in their own ability they wouldn't need to do that IMO.

Yeah some people move instructors, equally they could come to him/her from another instructor.

That's madness, ask for your €15 back. The most the logbook cost your instructor was €4 and that cost can be passed on to the pupil.

I didn't have 15 euro that day, had only 3 left from lesson, so he said that's alright.

Never heard of anyone charging for logbook till now I dont know which is worse that or my first instructor told me he was going to look after the log book for me fill it out in his own time and then give it to me when I completed the 12 EDT lessons.

Make sure when you're instructor gives it to you, you bring it along to every EDT lesson get it filled in and stamped there and then, and given back to you till your next one.

The first few batches of Logbooks were given to us FREE Of CHARGE until the cover price was set. Now we have to pay €4 per book.

I've heard of some instructors charging €10 for the FREE Logbooks

A deposit for a logbook is taking the pi$$

well my instructor said that all ADI's are getting limited number of logbooks, and its' very hard to get more, and he says right now at this time many people start EDT then just loose any interest in continuing and simply stop and logbooks get lost.

    Still doesnt add up.

We can have a "stock" of up to 75 logbooks. When that stock gets below 25 we can order more. It's easy enough to get more.

Paying him/her €15 is not making it any easier for him/her only giving them cash flow and almost ensuring you stay with them for all 12 lessons. Chancer imo

That's absolutely true!, I just hate hearing about things like this. It's that type of thing that get ADI's a bad name

I suppose for this purpose there is a rule on forum that you cannot post ADI's name.

I understood when the €4 came in for the logbooks that the ADI was allowed to charge up to but not more than the €4. Are there any sanctions for those who blatantly disregard these instructions?

I'd imagine the ADI Unit would take a dim view of it
