    Hi,

I'm close to buying an ex-lease 07 Focus 1.6 TDCI with 70k miles. It's an import by an ex garage owner who tops up his pension with imports like this.

Everything seems very ligit and I have a good feeling about the deal and the price is fair.

There is a full stamped Ford service history and I have called the dealer who confirmed each service.

    12.5k miles
    25k
    37.5k
    42.9k 01/11
    66k 12/11

Garage said clutch and flywheel were changed at 42k

Can anyone offer any piece of mind, warning or advice on the fact that it was not serviced for 24k?

    Thanks,
    J

They will give turbo problems if they are not serviced regularly. 24k miles is not recommended but I say if you give it a full service and remove the gauze filter from the turbo feed pipe you'll be grand.

As above, it would also be a good idea to remove the sump and check the oil pump pickup for any signs of blockage and replace if necessary.

42k miles seems very low to me to be changing the DMF and clutch.

    Thanks guys,

    I appreciate the responses.

I've had a mechanic have a look, and he believes it's a good buy and the engine is in good order.

I think I'll bring it in for an early service and make sure the oil pump pickup and gause filter from the turbo feed are checked properly.

If it makes any difference, I can't be 100% sure they said the clutch and flywheel was changed at 42k and not 62k when I think about it. The early service at 42k would indicate a problem though. I might be nieve, but I assume this means the driver was very hard on the clutch.

I've been searching for over a month and this is the straightest car I've come across by a long shot. I'm ready to move on and start living with my decision. :)

Not handing over money until Monday, so still open to any comments

    Thanks again,
    J
