Ref seems to be a fussy bollox in the Schalke match.

1-1 in Schalke match. Two poachers goals.

Strange that all the matches are kicking off at the same time. I would have thought UEFA would have wanted to maximise tv revenues by staggering them a little.

The commentators on GolTV are fupping terrible.

Who's this Papadapolous? 20 year old Greek CB? He looks a dab bit handy.

Yeah FM legend. Couldn't buy him in FM12 though.

Wish I'd got them at 2-1 instead of 1-1. :pac:

    Nearly a Huntelaar golazo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭shano_88

What a game. Raul nearly got his hat trick there.

Brilliant goal from Salvio in the 88th minute to win it for Atletico...

Mame Diouf with another goal for Hannover tonight. Top signing. Losing 1-2 away from home isn't too bad!

    Go the little HSV!

Good ol' Bundesliga looking after the fans eh? :pac:

Actually I think that's about the game in Bilbao.

ManU fans also had to pay what... £72 or something like that ?

I'm surprised by the result in Gelsenkirchen btw, I know Bilbao are playing well but Schalke aren't pushovers.

I can definitely see Bilbao getting to the final.

They are talking about tickets for the second leg in Spain AFAIK

That's right, but don't tell anyone, that Bilbao is in Spain. It's in the Basque Country ;)

Anyway, since I don't like Sch**** at all, I am even more delighted with Athletic's performance last night. I hope, they are able to keep their key players, like Llorente and Muniain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

    Which is in Spain ;)

I don't like Bilbao, their fans are in general ***** (Most Basque people don't even like them, they tend to have this 'We're all uber-Basques' air around them).

I agree - I know this only Basque thing is seen of as admirable - to me it smacks a little of a superiority complex (and that's giving it a positive slant).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,839 ✭✭✭Jelle1880

It's not exactly that, but I know some people from there who support other teams (Real Sociedad, Osasuna) and they hate Bilbao.

Bilbao seems to think of itself as the representation of Basque football and independence, while other clubs are seen as 'Spanish' (Especially Real Sociedad).

Interesting that Barcelona are still thought of as the Catalan national side, despite their more inclusive selection policy.

I'd love to see Metalist and Bilbao face off.

You did meet loads of them, did you?

Anyway, it's always funny to read, that people complain about Athletic and support a team, which used to refuse Catholic/Irish players in their ranks ;)

Very German of them to write it in perfect Spanish, down to the exclusively-Spanish punctuation.

See, Rangers are vilified for it, Bilbao are celebrated for it :o

And I've seen what they do when confronted by banter (opposing fans singing 'Viva Espana' etc.)

    Scum.

I know part of it is in France, but the call for independence is far bigger in the Spanish area of it.

Depends on the perspective, I suppose. You always celebrate, what you like ;)
