    hello,

Looking for some advice please. my 320gb iomega external drive fell from kitchen table to the ground. i managed to get all data off it and im just wondering can the hard drive be saved to be used again or will i be putting it in the bin, the hard drive reads when its pluggged in to the drive but will not format for me. there is a slight, not very loud clicking sound coming from the drive. is there any programs i can use to test/reformat drive because the windows tools are not working.

please see pics attached/ any advice would be appreicated.

Bin it, no point in using a broken drive, its likely the drive head clashed with the platter when it fell, and some parts of the drive are permanently damaged. The good news is hard drives have come down in price since the thailand flood fiasco 2 months back :)

You can run HDTune over it, but it will only confirm what Bones Yoyo said:
