Trying to find a book

Does anyone remember a book that was published in th 90's. I think it was aimed at around 12 year olds ? It was about a group growing up in and around the area of bray and south dublin. There was a lad playing football on the cover and if I remember right he went over to england to play professionally in the story ? Another part of the story was about one of the group racing pigeons ?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think there was at least 4 books in the series if I can remember correctly ?

They were books by peter regan, the one I was looking for was Urban Heroes

A great read and a great series for anyone with a young lad interested in football and reading ( or to get a young lad into reading )
