Garda Speed Camera Vans

about 4 weeks ago I was driving home and I seen a flash from the white Garda van as I approached it.

Now the van was parked on the opposite side of the road and the back of the van facing in the direction I was coming from.

I was well within the speed limit so I dont think it was flashing at me

    Same again last night..???

What direction are these vans monitoring in? Is it the front of the van and then they take a picture of the back of the car as it passes?

There was no car in front or behind me but a car passed the van on its side of the road but it would have had to take a picture of the back of it.

Anyone an idea how they are operating?

It's the back of the van. They catch the cars coming towards the back.

They can also catch you driving away from the rear of the van.

They were on Parnell Street the other night catching speeders in bother directions, including a Garda Car :pac:

    They can monitor both directions.

it must be the ones driving away then from the back of the van
I would have thought that trying to take a picture of a car on the opposite side of the road could be missed if a car on the near side drove by and blocked the view just as the pic was being taken?
