So a friend of mine has a 2007 mondeo and has failed the NCT on rear "axle" bushing. i presume this is the subframe bushing,
If so how hard is this to change?
Or how much will it cost and wheres the best place to source replacements??

Assuming it is the 2001-2007 shape Mondeo rather than the new shape then the best thing to do is fit Powerflex poly bushes. They will last longer than standard replacements. It should be possible to get the whole job done for less than €200 including parts.

If its the trailing arm bushes of the new model mondeo, Ford don't sell them separately from the arm as far as I know. One arm is about €200:eek: But they are on ebay, much cheaper than buying a complete arm.

its the newer shape. the mk3 i think. all it said on the nct cert was axle bushing. so would that be the trailing arm or the subframe????

If it is the new shape then it is the trailing arm bush that Plug mentioned above. They are starting to give plenty of trouble on the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy. I would say Ford will eventually have to start selling the bush on its own rather than the whole arm as it is at the moment.

There was a similar situation years back with the old model where the subframe bushes started falling out of them right left and centre and Ford would only sell you a complete rear subframe at €650 a pop. Eventually they copped on and started selling the bushes on their own.
