BMW 318 Fan Keeps running

    Hi I have a 1999 BMW 318 and for the last few days the fan keeps running when i turn off engine and doesnt stop until I unplug it under the bonnet. No warning or problem light showing on dash.What is keeping it staying on? Any help appreciated.

    Did you check the coolant level? What is the temperature gauge in the car showing? Could be the thermostat also but check the coolant level first.

    coolant Level fine and temp fine, both as normal

    No we put in a new switch but problem still persists

    my guess is it is on a thermostat and runs on until it is cool enough. No doubt it doesnt usually happen, but then we have had the warmest March since before Moses started taking the tablets.

    I'd double check your coolant again! park it facing up a hill and open the bleed screw next to the coolant filler cap. There could be an air lock.

    Do you mean the aux fax between the radiator and engine ? if so then you need a new fan as the relay goes bad and cant be sold seperately.

    You man try changing the lower temp sensor but my money is on the relay and you need a new fan for that.
