Protecting a new mtb frame?

Taking delivery of a new bike next week, black/silver frame.

I am looking for ideas on protecting the frame from scratches and bangs. I am no Brand Snob so I don't care if the brand name is covered over!

Anyone used insulating tape all over; or clear film; etc etc?

    Thanks.

Isn't that what the paint is for? I have a neoprene sleeve on the swing arm under the chain and a few carbon patches under cable rubs and that's all on my MTB. Feck all on the road bikes..

Yep Biketape is the job! Almost invisible and really tough - I use it on the mountain bikes and also on my road bikes! I've bought it a couple of times from Biketart.com but they don't seem to have any in stock at the moment. Worth an email!

I have used this stuff for years, http://www.justridingalong.com/copter-tape.html and it provides excellent protection

Damn straight! Even my neoprene sleeve is mainly to cut down on noise. A minty clean MTB has no credibility :D

Look up helicopter tape on Ebay. That's what that biketape stuff is.
Make sure you get instructions on how to apply, and it will be invisible and protect your frame from chippings.

Thanks all. I got some helicopter tape type stuff in cycleways. I looked at where the old bike had been marked through use, & applied the tape on those parts on my new bike. A little of the tape goes a long way, i used approx 75 by 400mm in all.
