What would be the best way to enable friends to upload photo's and videos to a website created in Notepad++ using mainly html and css. Would an application that comes with the hosting be sufficient. Sorry if this is vague but not sure if I can use names of hosting companies etc

    Best way?

I would not be hosting the images myself unless you have money to burn or you don't want to use Picassa or some other online storage.

Picassa or any online cloud provider - hosting is expensive and no need to host them yourself if you can prevent it.

    Search for Uploadify; it's excellent.
