    Groody Hill 10/1 fav

Just looking at the names and prices two I will look closely at are

    Western Charmer and Arabella Boy.

Ground will be key but looks set fair for a warm build up based on recent weather.

    Cross Appeal E/W

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

I might be barking up the wrong tree and it looks like he has a lot on his plate but Osana would be intriguing if taking his chance. Will he stay? He has enough weight but at the right price I'd take a stab at him

When are the decs out for this ? Cross Appeal and Four Commanders are the two I have been looking at. Be interesting to see which of JPs 7 or 8 or whatever he has in it AP picks.

Declarations on Saturday I would think.

Final decs would be at twelve o'clock the day before wouldn't they but 2 day declarations would be Saturday

Jayzus, that is a trappy field. You could make a case for about ten horses.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,173 ✭✭✭hucklebuck

How is Roy Du Mee carrying only 11-7?

Four Commanders should win handy enough if Cheltenham has not taken too much of a toll on him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,431 ✭✭✭Morgans

One horse is outstanding value. While he might not win lion na bearnai is complete the wrong price. Glam gerry was given a ride at Cheltenham that suggests that that there was a bigger fish to fry later this season. He will do for me.

    Glam Gerry for me too.

    Who's shagging him?

    B Hayes, claiming 7.

I'm gonna stick with Four Commanders but as was already mentioned, it's a trappy contest and there are probably 10 horses in with a shout - I'll also stick a few bob on Prince Erik at 28/1 - e/w

Weights only go up if bottom weight out of handicap.

Out now & last derby are very good prices today in my opinion.

As suggested earlier http://longshotvalue.com/2012/04/07/irish-grand-national-5/ I think Shakervilz represents very decent EW value tomorrow. Im going to add another 1 pt EW at 50/1 with Boyles Paying 5 places. He was 7th last year running on well, has 3lbs lower tomorrow and a 7lbs claimer witha very good record on.
    1pt EW Boyles 50/1 12345

Deal Done has the look of the type of horse I like in this race. He ran well last year of 1lbs higher having lead to 2 out but got tired in the finish, possibly having had a hard enough race at Cheltenham as well, when he finished a very good 3rd to Junior. He has had an eye opening preparation for this race in that he has had only 1 run in a hurdle and hopefully that is to keep his good mark for a big performance. 33/1 with 5 places with PP looks to big and well worth a bet.
    1pt EW 33/1 PP 12345

Fair 3:10 Bat Masterson has been running consistently well this year, and has plenty of experience for a 4yo. He ran on eye-catchingly in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham and looks to be helped by the step up in trip here. He has the benefit of a not inconsiderable 4yo allowance here, and given his experience he should be able to take advantage of it here. The 14/1 available in a few places looks to be about 3 points too big and well worth a bet.

    1 Point win 14/1 Ladbrokes

I like Bat Masterson too aidan. Backed him at Cheltenham because I had backed him when he won his maiden, this is obviously much easier than Cheltenham

+1. 24's on betfair will do for me e/w

Allee garde has some classy form in the book. Him and cross appeal are the two that interest me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭longshotvalue

Some Target has been very consistent over the last year or two and did run a very good race in the Grand National Trial at Haydock, travelling well throughout but weakening near the end. I’m sure this would be his target and he is in here of a very workable weight with Paul Townend in the saddle. The rain yesterday and today will only help his chances He is a stayer really and looks to be almost nailed on to place in the first 5. 22/1 with 5 places on Bet365 looks worth taking.

    1pt EW 22/1 Bet365 12345

3 selections enough now for luck in running :o

I really think someone has missed a trick here with Start Me Up. Looks fantastically well handicapped.

I also fancy Shakervilz Aidan and have had a good bet at 66s.

Only one I've backed is Some Target. The rain should help his chances.

Impossible race. Almost all of them have a chance.

Did both at the time. 50/1 and 18/1 GG. Thankfully. Tempted to go in again when he drifted back out, but it makes up for Rathbawn Prince all those years ago.

Ah balls, did a small amount ew on Lion Na Bearnai which saved my knackers after Four Commanders ran no race.

Even worse I asked the missus if she wanted me to place any bets on it, "yes can you back Lion Na Bearnai and Paddy Pub EW please" :o
