I'm a single mother. My older son is 9 and i'm prengnant at the moment. My due date is in May. I have 40 euro maintenance weekly for my older son and i won't have maintenenace for my new baby cause i don't know where is the father of this baby. I'm getting 55 euro rent allowance a week ( pay 550 euro rent a month). Lady from social welfare told me that i won't get more then thaT 55 euro a week when my baby is born even if don't have maintenance for baby. She said that i will have only 23 euro more a week ( one parent family payment). Is it possible?

Yes. Rent allowance is based on the property, not on the size of the family. You will only get whatever the Child Benefit payment is for a second child.

what type of accomodation are you in at present? It's possible you might get more if you need more space I'd say.

    SEE HERE ,http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/rent_supplement.html
each area has a limit, max rent you can pay in order to qualify for rent allowance.
eg dublin ,not fingal area , single parent with 2 kids ,max rent is 925 per month. And the tenant pays x amount out of the total rent .
EG The main thing is the rent amount,so most single mothers end up renting a 3 bed house or maybe a large apartment , i presume the cwo would expect you to rent a place with 2 or 3 bedrooms since you are having another child.
SO if you want a new gaff look for something under 925 euros per month.
if rent is 927 you wont get ANY rent allowance at all.
IT goes up, depending if you have 2 or 3 kids,
eg 1 child ra limit is 875 in dublin, excluding fingal area.
