Is it the newer (05->10) or the older (01->05) shape "Psat" ??

What engine is in it? Is it 5 speed or 6 speed?

Our price is €700 for supply and fit of a brand new Luk DMF and clutch kit. I know of some places who are cheaper but I don't know exactly what they replace or what kind of parts they use.

Try pricing a clutch and DMF change for an Avensis and you will realise that the Passat isn't so bad after all ;)

Just on the topic of DMF's George, do you ever be inclined to advise somene to go for the solid flywheel as oppose to the DMF?

The reason I ask is that i hear alot of people cursing them into the ground and countless amounts of people with problems with them, and as far as I no when your replacing it you do the clutch also...

I know the logic behind the DMF but i know people that have changed theirs to a solid wheel and have noticed no change in drive/comfort etc at all

It depends on the car. In general I find that solid flywheel conversions lead to extra gearbox noise which is an issue for some people.

Have a listen to the noise in the video below, it should be pointed out that the 6 speed TDI gearbox is among the worst affected by fitting a solid flywheel:

There are exceptions to this rule, EG 5 speed diesel Mondeos and D4D Toyotas don't seem to suffer with extra gearbox noise but in general I recommend replacing like with like unless the customer specifically requests a solid flywheel.
