I know there are a few posts similar but recently broke the screen on my laptop and am looking for a new one. Budget 500, I only need it for movies, downloading, streaming etc. Dont use it for games. What would you think would be the best laptop I could get for that price, reliability also a high priority. Thanks in advance.

Want to buy online or in a store?

This budget should buy you a Core i5 laptop w HDMI.

Could you not just replace the broken screen?

We all wish for reliability and decent build quality but with your budget you'll get an entry-level laptop and nothing else. Even Sony's cheap VAIOs are just that: cheap.

The components are more or less all the same. Reliability depends first and foremost on how people treat their laptop.

I dont mind buying online or store, I know my budget will only get a basic laptop but even for 500 euro there are plenty to choose from. For what I want do I need an i5 or would i3 do, and look for more memory instead. Reliability issue was just more on the makes and models. I know some are better built than others. My laptops is old enough that broke so would rather replace it. Any examples of laptops , pros and cons would be great.
