So after playing alot of courses in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare and Meath, on Sunday I finally got the finger and cash out and joined a Club. I took alot into account, the style of course, condition, tee time availability, member type etc and after all that it was Rathcore GC that I decided to join as every time I play it(I have played it about 10times now) I always want to go back out straight away as its the type of course that you learn something new after every round and there is so many different ways to play alot of the holes, So its time to get the 3cards in and finally feel like a "real golfer" any maybe try play like one too!!!:)

Congratulations on your choice and best of luck in your new club.

As a matter of interest, had travelling distance from home and price anything at all to do with your final membership decision and how much did these factors weight with qualitative stuff, such as style of course, condition, tee time availability, member type, etc?

Yeah the travel distance did come into it as I live in north Dublin it takes 40minutes to get there as its motorway driving for most of the way so not to bad, I joined up with a mate so we will share the driving every other week most of the time, The style of course was a big deal for me as I've played a large amount of courses over the past 12months or so and I felt Rathcore served me the best ( Its not the course that I generally shoot my lowest numbers on btw) as I wanted to join a course that course management comes into play with alot of variation in tee shots etc, I did my home work on tee time availability, member type, etc as I picked the brains of a few lads on here that are members and have hanged around the club house to see what the general vibe is among the members as its a very friendly and banter filled laid back place. The condition of the place is fantastic too, bunkers, tee boxes, fairways and green all well maintained to a high standard, I believe the membership price is a bargain for what you get, as some of the other courses I played while shopping around that were up to twice the cost of Rathcore's fee were not near the standard of Rathcore in my opinion.

I know that sounds like a sales pitch above but excuse my ramblings I'm just a happy hacker at the moment!
