I just got my first BMW - bought it yesterday in fact. It is an 07 E90. I was driving back to Dublin this evening on the motorway and hit an animal(fairly sure it was a fox). I was doing about 65-70 mph so it was a bit of a bang. Thankfully I didn't swerve or anything like that.

I pulled in at the next rest stop and had look. There is a bad crack along the bumper(horizontal) and there is a dent below the fog light which has dislodged it. That side of the bumper is loose. It looks to me like I'll need to replace the bumper. A warning light came on as well for the fog light.

I can't believe this has happened after 1 day. What is the cheapest way of getting this fixed(im based in Dublin)? I'll try and get some pictures up.

you are pretty lucky if its just the bumper.
If you are on a budget, you could pick up a used bumper handy enough and get it professionally painted. There might be some more damage though.

Speak to Ken in the parts dept of Murphy & Gunn and get a price on a new bumper (mention you are a member of bmw-driver.net)

I got a new msport bumper from them for my E46 supplied and fitted for €650 / 700 (I think it was 2 years ago) I priced getting it repaired with 3 other places and this was actually the cheapest at the time

If you are going to buy seperate and then get a crash repair place to paint and fit I would recommend Noel Hannon Crash repairs. He is in Bray but I would happily travel for good work and decent price.

I doubt the fox is too thrilled either.

Be glad it wasn't a badger, they can rip half the chassis out!

A friend of my son hit a dog in his Subaru the other day, and wrote off the car. The damage was unbelievable (fairly big dog i think)
