Best Value Tires

    Hi folks,

Went out to my car this morning to find that the tire was flat. I couldn't change it as I seemed to be missing a piece of kit to get the nuts off.

So, hoping to get someone out to look after it in the morning. Can anyone recommend a company in Dublin, or perhaps what I should be expecting to pay for a replacement tire? Car is a VW Golf.

You need a wheel brace to get the tyre off. I wouldn't advise driving on the flat tyre as you'll damage the sidewall.
If you know you're going to be changing the tyre, perhaps a can of tyre weld would get you to the nearest tyre shop.

Maybe you could get a lend of a wheel brace?

The one I have doesn't seem to be fitting the nuts on the wheel. I haven't driven the car since. I saw one company who do it for €40 so I'd pay that to get it sorted properly.

If the tire needs to be replaced rather than repaired I'm not sure what brands or prices I should be expecting.

VWs often have plastic covers over the nuts, so if the wheelbrace seems too small, that may be the reason.

What size tyre do you have on, what condition is the one on the other side?

Yeah it was the plastic covers which caught me! I wouldn't have said they were plastic.

Got it repaired pretty quickly, but when they were finishing up they recommended I change them before I do my NCT as they've gone below the minumum level. Does anyone know where I can get a good deal?
