    Hi

Just wondering if anybody knew if Garda cars record any kind of video footage these days? I am curious in particular about a 2011 reg completely unmarked Saloon Corolla. Thanks for any help.

Not sure about unmarked but i was stuck in traffic the other day behind a garda car and they had a fully rotatable camera in the back window. Assume they control it from the front. Would be stupid for it not to record I would have thought.

That sounds like an ANPR camera, which doesn't record, just reads number plates.

If they do record, the camera is facing forward (some UK forces have it so that you can swivel the camera around and interview people on camera in the car).

They have the screen in the dash just like the ones on them UK cop shows on sky one.
I doubt they are constantly recording, but I would guess they could be turned on to record.
Be very wasteful having all that tech and not being able to record.

No I know what they look like, the one i saw was similar to thissonybrc300-med.jpg. It was also on the inside of the window.

Some of the Garda cars record onto the on board DVR.
