Third party car insurnce - a scenario

    Hello,
Need some advice as to what would likely happen in this scenario...

Two cars on my insurance policy, Mine(full licence, more than 5yrs NCB, Comprehensive) and My spouse's(Provisional licence, third party, added last year). Wife car was involved in an accident in an unmarked road(L shaped estate road and cars on the outside always cut the corner, my wife was on the inside) and both parties are claiming its the others fault. The cars were moved before any pictures could be taken(don't know if it matters but, he moved his first). Guards were called, since there were no injuries(fortuantely) and the vehicles have been moved they asked parites to sort it out with the insurance companies.

    Main questions:
    1. What would happen in case the other party claims with my insurance and we are saying it is not our fault.

    2. Since mine is TPFT, We can't claim from my own innsurance co, but can we claim from the other party's insurance?

    3. What happens to the no claims bonus on my insurance policy? could it be effected if this incident is deemed to be our fault?

    4. if the damages are not huge, is it advisable to settle between ourselves?

    Thanks in advance,
    Vis

I wouldn't admit any liability here. If its a right hander, it's plausable that the other person was at fault, the position of the damage on oth cars may back that up too

    this is my opinion:

    1. What would happen in case the other party claims with my insurance and we are saying it is not our fault.
your insurance company would investigate and will handle the claim as they see fit

    2. Since mine is TPFT, We can't claim from my own innsurance co, but can we claim from the other party's insurance?
you can try. if they are liable or a % liable then you should get something back

    3. What happens to the no claims bonus on my insurance policy? could it be effected if this incident is deemed to be our fault?
if you are liable or part liable your ncb will likely be reduced

    4. if the damages are not huge, is it advisable to settle between ourselves?
if youre talking low 100s that might be a good idea. if theres a dispute over whos at fault though this will likely blow up in your face

ultimately id suggest you report it to your own insurance company, cooperate fully and read your policy booklet. if you feel you are being hard done by they should listen to your side of it and be able to explain their decisions etc

Thanks a lot for the replies, much appreciated. The incident and our take on it has already reported to our insurance company. Both the vehicles are right hand drives.our right head light, bumper and right wing got damaged. the other partys driver side back door and wheel(flat tyre) were damaged. scratches start from edge of the of the driver door on his car.
    Thanks,
    Vis

    As highlighted.

You can have 2 cars (or more) on a single policy, however each will have its own no claims bonus associated with it. If changing insurers each NCB is treated as if it was from a separate policy even though all NCB's were earned on the same policy number. I have 3 cars on the same policy - one policy number, each is issued with a separate insurance cert and disc but all have the same policy number.
