I used the current IE without a problem. There was some note ( That I can't really remember ) about how to scroll? It did suggest a problem.

No minimum age limit, but the certificate of passing lasts only 2 years, and you can't apply for a car learner permit (category B) until you are 17, the minimum age is 15. However, if you want to get your tractor/work vehicles (category W) LP first, you can apply for this aged 16 (it is the same theory test as the car one).

I only found the option to do tests for the car. This can be 3/4 of your prep. But you will need to study for the motorbike specific questions elsewhere.

Great site. However, i have the 4th edition of the cd rom and on it there are a couple of questions with multiple answers (choose 2 or 3 answers).

On the free site there does not appear to be any questions like that. I've done the mock test about 15 times and haven't seen any yet.

Have the real test next Friday week and was wondering are the multiple choose answer questions gone from the 5th edition.

Thanks alot and best of luck to everyone who's going to do the test :)

did you do all your studying on the free online one?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,084 ✭✭✭statesaver

I had the 4th edition. Got it last year. Did about 20 mock tests then stopped doing it.
Just over 2 weeks ago found the free online test here. The day i rang and booked my theory test was the same i found the free site (was surprized i got it 2 weeks later).
Did about 30 mocks (did not fail any) also, went through a few categories.
Real test is the same, one answer for every question (Choose one answer).
Was very familiar with the questions by now. Though, 2 questions i had not seem during my mock tests. This could be because i did not go through all of the categories. They were common sence questions thank god !!! Do as many mocks as you can and go through all the categories and you'll be fine. GOOD LUCK

    On a side note;
Just noticed on the RSA site that it will be 6 months before i can do the real driving test .
So, i'll apply around 3nd/4rd week in october wait 8 to 10 weeks for a date to do the test. That should bring me over the 6 months.
You have to wait 6 months from the date you get your learner permit to the date of the test.
Ah well, hard work starts here. Good luck everyboby.

I was using the 4th edition disk but hadn't realized the new edition was the 5th. Found this website and basically used this up to the exam along with the 4th edition official disk the odd time and the odd look at the rules of the road which I luckily had.

You can even do specific categories and all the 845 questions are on it. It really did help and it is up to date and legit. Everyone's different but it worked for me. Can't complain. :) Good luck with it!!!

yeap, keep doing mock text every couple of days.i find it better after a couple of days break.have a look at the question relating to car 845 questions on it, cd cost e22 but very helpfull.havet failed once since i got cd.got book to just look up now and then.

    have test in 2 weeks:eek:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74 ✭✭mansoff

    Guys,
I used the free website, as my pal already had used this website and passed getting 40/40. The best way is to sign up to the free website, then review all 845 questions and tick any questions you do not know for revision. After that you would be left with about 300 out of 845, because most of the questions are basic knowledge even a kid would know. I then just studied these 300 questions and started unmarking the questions I felt I knew. Slowly I got my list down and down until I had no more marked for revision. Only then I started taking 5 mock tests a day and anything I got wrong I marked for revision. I didn't need to but the book/disk and passed last week 40/40 by only using the free website. Hope this helps you as this was the way me and my friend used.
    Cheers!
