    Hi

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on flooring for large kitchen living area flooring. I would love wooden floors in the living section of it but wonder how they wear in the kitchen area. I think it would cut of the big space doing half tiles half wooden floors ??. Also underfloor heating so know tiles would really be better. Just looking for some opinions :-)

    thanks!

What happens if you have f looded kitchen due to a faulty washing machine, dish washer,or fridge freezer.Or is the mains water pipe to the sink bursts?

You get sodden and warped wooden floors that will have to be ripped up.

    I went with 600 x 600 x 25mm solid marble tiles with 600 x 200 x 25mm brown marble border tiles,after a long think about things.

What about timber-effect tiles in the kitchen area and then real timber in the living area.

I'm generally not a fan of materials that try to look like other materials but it would allow you to have your timber floor in the living room and tiles in the kitchen without there being a large visual difference between the two.

I had the same problem in my last house. Ended up doing tiles throughout. Personally i found it aestheticaly cold, even with a large rug in the living area.

My neighbour has timber throughout. She figures that if the dishwasher leaks she'll fix the timber in that area.

I have timber through out the whole of the house, diffrent types in each room even in the bathroom if its fitted right you wont have a problem I have oil finshed in the kitchen its very hard wearing and doesnt show scraches etc and very easy to re oil and if by some chance I have a bad leak in the kitchen well thats what Im paying insurance for.
