The 3rd running of the Newport 10k, takes place on Friday, May 25 @ 7.30pm. Entry fee for Runners is 15euro. Registration from 6pm - 7pm at the Newport Community Centre. The course is AAI certified. Contact Niamh @ 086 3823 819 or Seamus @ 086 8184 262. Newport is only a 10 minute drive from the Castletroy side of Limerick. It's a lovely country run starting and finishing in Newport, Co. Tipperary, with the run taking you past the Clare Glens. Last year's winner was Michael Carmody with a time of 32.37. This year's chosen charity is Cystic Fibrosis, a very worthwhile cause. The tea, sambos & cakes afterwards were lovely last year. :D

Course record was set by winner last year in 32.37. First half of course has a few long inclines with one decent downhill after GAA pitch. Second half is relatively flatter. Weather was scorching the first 2 years, which definitely had an impact. Tar was actually melting the first year. It's a lovely country run and a good fair test. The winner will deserve it.

Yep, that about sums it up....would say it's similar to the Bilboa course if you're familiar with that.

A lot of races seem to be moving to Friday evenings which I think is a great idea, hopefully ye get a good turn out next week

Yeah, hopefully there is a good turn out. Weather forecast is good so the weather gods would appear to be looking after this event for the third year running. Did the Mungret 10k today in a PB under 44 mins so now looking forward to next Friday.

The results of last Friday evening's run can be found here http://www.munsterrunning.blogspot.com/2012/05/tipperaryresults-of-newport-10k-race.html . Well done to everyone who turned up on a very, very warm evening on the hottest day of the year (so far we hope). It was tough going out there! Congrats to the winners, Paul Buckley of Ferbane AC (33.58) and Tracey Roche of Dooneen AC (38.23) and Newport AC who won the team prize.
