Can't really comment on hotels except to say that a lot of the popular ones are a good bit away from the town center so you may possibly be relying on a shuttle bus

We stayed at a place called La Neffola http://www.neffolaresidence.com/
it's self catering but a short stroll from the center of town, it's an old house cut up into apartments & you share the pool, restaurant with a small well run campsite http://www.nubedargento.com/

Plenty of reviews on the net, if going back I'd happily stay there again

Grand Hotel President in a great hotel in Sorrento, with stunning views:

Another nice option I know is Majestic Palace Hotel:

I've stayed in Hotel Bristol ( http://www.bristolsorrento.com/ ) twice now and I love it!! There have been quite a few honeymoon couples there as well. They have some suites available and also the seperate Villa Bianca which is like a seperate cottage/apartment set a bit away from the hotel - looks very romantic ;-)
I hope you choose to go there and if so, have a great time!!
Make sure you take a day trip to Amalfi, Positano and definitely Ravello.

I have to recommend the antiche Mura in the heart of the town.. We went there for our honeymoon and stayed in a poolside room..

There is an amazing citrus groove around the pool which just makes the afternoons by the pool idealic http://www.hotelantichemura.com

whatever you do make sure you get the local bus from sorrento to amalfi. it takes about 90mins but spectacular scenery along the way. you can get all the info you need locally from the tourist office on the main square in town.

try to get the ferry across the bay of naples too on the way there, well worth it. but do get a taxi to your hotel once you get off the ferry, huge uphill climb otherwise. share the taxi with others if possible. sorrento gets about 2 million visitors a year, so it's like shooting fish in a barrel for the taxi drivers who are more than capable of extracting the max from the unsuspecting tourist.

p.s. - there isn't much of beach to lie out on in sorrento if thats your thing.

Flying into Naples mid may and planning to spend a night there, 2 nights in sorrento, and 3/4 nights around amalfi area. Hiring a car so transport is sorted.
Lot of hotels in sorrento mentioned above already booked out.

Any suggestions on hotel in Naples preferably with a view of Vesuvius, and hotels around sorrento and amalfi?

    Stayed at this place: http://www.laminervetta.com/en/menu

Just gorgeous! Couldn't afford to spend the full fortnight there, so we moved down the hill to Capo di Monte after a few nights, but if you want something really special, I don't think you can go too far wrong.

It's about 10 minutes' walk from the centre, the only minus being that it's up quite a steep hill. However there's a footpath the whole way (I think it stops soon after) so as long as you're not lazy or infirm, you won't actually need a taxi.

    Hi all!
    Any further newer recommendations?
I have found this bnb: Surriento Suites
It has good reviews, anyone has been there?

We stayed in Grand Hotel de la Ville, lovely hotel within walking distance to the centre, buses, train station etc. Great rooftop pool, nice garden for breakfast, free access to sister hotel for bathing platform

We stayed in the Grand Hotel Riveria. Really liked it, quite old school 50s glamour. But maybe not quite as comfy as more modern hotels
