    Hi folks,
I hope I've posted this in the correct area..
The story is I've just got my braces taken off (cant be called braceface any longer :D ) - I have to say it was the best investment I've ever made.

Before I got my braces on I was made aware by the local dentist that I need to get two crowns done but it could wait until after I get the braces removed.
A few days before my braces were due to be removed I had to get adjustments made to a bracket as the sensitivity was unbearable.
Relief - so I thought but was short lived as two days later in early hours of the morning of the long awaited BIG DAY I woke up to a half swollen face :(
As planned the orthodontist still removed my traintracks that morning and off I went to visit my local dentist .. (i had it book previously anyways to get a check-up & clean) He advised me that I have an infection in the root of my tooth and to my horror need 5 crowns  and 2 root-canals  - quoted work costing €5160 for the work :( which I feel is very expensive!

When I was in my teens and early very early 20's I took grand care of my teeth - the usual twice daily scrub and visited dentist annually however then started socialising a few nights a week and after drinking gallons of an Irish Cider brand this has resulted in the state my teeth is now - it has been an expensive lesson!

After spending €4700 between braces and extractions to get the braces - now I'm faced with another bill €5160 + whiting needed

So far the advice from friends is to go abroad but would rather give my to a business on the island of Ireland..

Can anyone please advise me of another dentist practice that is competitively priced and reputable. My current dentist is in Dundrum - I've checked out WhatClinic.com and a found a dentist with great reviews which is based in Beechwood so I've arranged to get an consultation next week. I’m willing to travel anywhere along the east coast. If anyone could help I would be greatly appreciated, Pls PM me..

Sorry for such a long post, if this is posted in the incorrect section my apologies.
    Cheers

I would avoid dental tourism as the speed of treatment is too fast to achieve quality dental work. The price may be the current dilemma but the quality of the work will be more important long term and set the actual value of the dental work. Good crowns can last decades while bad one may need replacing after only a few years.

5 crowns is a lot of work, I would consider a prosthodontist and specialist endodontist for such treatments.
