Think its held for 3 days from your normal payment date.

My payment is on a Tuesday for JSA and they told me in the Post office that I have until Sat to collect. I used to get it on Thursday while on JSB and I was also told I could collect until Sat. I presume that means that no matter what day you get paid on it will be there until the Sat of that week and then it is gone

It lasts 3 working days from day of payment. JSA payable on Tuesdays can be collected from the Monday giving a fourth day.

Does that mean that you can collect a Wednesday payment on The day before which would be Tuesday?

If it is Jobseekers Benefit then no, but Jobseekers allowance is available from the day before the normal payment date.

So if you normally collect JSA on a Tuesday , it should be ok collecting it on Thursday ?

What happens if you missed picking up a payment in the post office simply because the SW office never informed me that I was no longer receiving payment via cheque??

I was due a JSB payment on 28th the office told me today but I never received a cheque and also due a payment today she said, but still nothing.

It was only a while ago that I thought that I might have to have picked up the payment in post office but she never told me that, she just told me initially a month ago that I'd be getting payment directly from them.

So confused, as she's not worth tuppence up there as an SW officer!

From the above it seems so, I can second the fact that people on JSA can collect it a day early.

I'm fairly sure that JS payments will build up in arrears and that a week later or two weeks even you would just get double. If you go to the post office you should know either way.

Its 3 days (not inc Sunday) as above, so if its suppose to be collected on a Wednesday you have Wed, Thurs, Fri to collect. If its suppose to be collected Friday then you have Fri, Sat and Mon to collect

I am on SWA and on the bottom of the docket you sign is shows an expiry date. In my case, my payment can be collected on a Thursday. This week I collected on the Wednesday the 4th as I had a lift, and the expiry date is the 10th. Now whether that means you can still collect on the 10th or must be collected prior to, I dont know!

"Where a person opts for payment by EIT ( SWS card), s/he must attend the Post Office to collect the payment personally. An agent may not be appointed to collect the payment, except in exceptional circumstances such as serious illness. Supporting medical evidence would be required.

Payments by EIT are held at the Post Office for 12 days from the due date. After this time, the payments go out-of-date and are returned to the Department."

I've never even heard of EIT before reading that but I'd imagine alot of people don't or maybe can't use that service and for standard JSB it's 3 days

Does the 3 day rule still apply to jobseekers allowance? I missed collecting it yesterday due to an interview.

Bumping the thread. I am also interested in this. Any updates if someone knows. Does the 3-day rule still apply in 2019? For example is is possible to collect Tuesday payment on Saturday same week?
