    Hi there,

We're looking to achieve a white/off white finish on our new build. We are currently looking at either a smooth plaster finish and paint or a plain colour dash finish.

My question is cost wise how do these compare? Is there a huge difference between the two?

    Thanks a mil

Dashing seems to be a thing of the past, I just stripped mine too much loose chips and the white cement quoins were a b1tch to keep clean from algae, plastered and now waiting to paint.

Bit of a n00b question, how did you remove the dash ?

Kango, with a wide spade on it normally used for removing floor tiles..

dashing looks lovely when done, but over time can become a hassle with maintenance, you cant paint it,cant power wash it,and pebbles falling off, kids kicking football of it will help this,if its a bit of decoration you want as opposed to smooth you can always nap it,but for me a properly done smmoth finish always looks best.

I have been quoted €19 per m2 to remove and €35 per m2 to apply a Coloured render finish.
