Just spotted this car this morning as I was cycling to work: http://db.tt/kGAITPoC

That's a left hand drive Lada Niva (do they exist in RHD?), with Kazakh registration! He stopped right next to me at the next traffic lights. And, although I really wanted to ask him how and why he drove all the way from there to here (that's over 6000km), I didn't dare for some reason. That has to be one of the most unexpected encounters I've ever had while commuting...

Looks like a spoiler to start with but I think it's a keep-your-back-window-clean thingy.

It's a ContourROAM. Here it is mounted on the handlebars with this mount. Or should I say was, as it broke yesterday (didn't feel right from the beginning). I now plan to attach it to the frame directly using a flex strap as shown here. You can also mount it on the helmet with one of those.

I sure wasn't holding a camera in my hand :)

Headed out after I posted above and came across the car again on Deerpark Rd. What are the odds

Now that's funny! That makes me confident I might see him again. In which case, I will have to ask him :)

There's a lad who works around Ballycoolin who drives some sort of 2-stroke engined eastern bloc piece of crap. Must get a pic if I see it again.

Saw a good few of the Lada Nivas up the mountains in the Czech republic. Still doing the business fair play to them.

    3/4 against, I'd wager.

Yeah, couldn't think of the name earlier. They're noisy as hell.

They should bring em back in some form - 4 wheeled scooter with a fibreglass rain lid. How bad...
