Are post office savings subject to DIRT?

    Today I read that Post Office Savings are subject to DIRT, but this evening a RTE journalist in his evening report said they were not!. Which is it.?

    I think it maybe the government bonds that they are selling are tax free after a few years

    AFAIK post office savings accounts are DIRT free

    This may help State Savings and Investments,

    It would seem all Savings accounts are subject to DIRT. Some of the Investment options are tax free.
