Fun Computing for Kids

    Hey,

Wondering if anybody could throw some ideas at me tonight.

I'm looking for something fun/educational for a group of 5th class kids, to last the rest of the week [a two hour period each day].

I would have been prepared had I known I was going to be doing it. But alas, I need ideas before the night's out.

Any suggestions on something to keep them busy with and that they'll enjoy? I'll take anything at this stage!

That depends. Do you just want to keep them occupied or do you have a goal from the week?

For puzzles and games and the like I found mathsisfun.com useful.

For a longer term challenge the likes of scratch software looks like a good learning tool for kids.

I've played around with Scratch a little bit. But with the learning curve involved I'm not sure I could cover it with them in the three days. I'll take another look at it now though to see.

Scratch is great fun, I use it with kids from 3rd up. What about the game making site sploder.com
http://labyrinth.thinkport.org/www/ is fantastic, logic puzzles, quest type things etc.
